Author Sariah Wilson

Bestselling author Sariah Wilson has never jumped out of an airplane, never climbed Mt. Everest, and is not a former CIA operative. She has, however, been madly, passionately in love with her soulmate and is a fervent believer in happily ever afters–which is why she writes romance. She has published many happily ever after stories. She grew up in southern California, graduated from Brigham Young University (go Cougars!) with a semi-useless degree in history, and is the oldest of nine (yes, nine) children. She currently lives with the aforementioned soulmate and their four children in Utah, along with three tiger barb fish, a cat named Tiger, and a recently departed hamster that is buried in the backyard (and has nothing at all to do with tigers).

Coming January 8, 2019

“Ambitious intern Ashton Bailey is about to get closer to her dream of being a sports announcer. All she has to do is prove that too-perfect-to-be-true NFL quarterback Evan Dawson isn’t quite as wholesome as his contract requires. It’s also the perfect opportunity to get delicious payback on the boy who broke her teenage heart. At least that’s her plan. But she forgot just how easy it is to crush on the irresistible charmer. #OhNoNotAgain.

Evan has a knack for getting through the opposing team’s defenses, and he won’t let this tall, redheaded knockout be the exception. He’s determined to make things right between them and earn back Ashton’s trust—and maybe her heart, too.

Then the press mistakenly announces their engagement, and Ashton and Evan find themselves going along with the lie. Now the whole world is watching as Ashton flirts with attraction and disaster. But while revenge is sweet, it just might come at the cost of something sweeter still.”

3 1/2 Stars, Low Language, Low Violence, Moderate Romance, Sariah Wilson

It’s called Chemistry

Sariah Wilson is an expert at chemistry. And while the chemistry is well done and definitely spicy, it is a little on pg-13 side. I like my chemistry used as an inconspicuous thread subtly enhancing the story. In both #Starstruck and #Moonstruck the chemistry is more of a front row focus in the narrative than an indirect subplot. And yet it works, and I’ll tell you why.

“After pop star Ryan De Luna praises Maisy Harrison’s YouTube cover of his classic hit, he offers Maisy and her fledgling band the opportunity of a lifetime: to be his opening act.

Music may be Maisy’s life, but she has one ground rule: never date a musician. That goes double for a heartbreaker like Ryan. If only she didn’t feel so vulnerable to his larger-than-life charm. And maybe now more than ever, when he asks for her help to shake off his playboy image. How can she resist playing the part of his fake girlfriend for the duration of the tour?

Ryan’s never met anyone like Maisy. She sees past all the star-studded fame and treats him like any other guy. And the more time they spend together, the more he finds himself falling for her. Now he’d like to make their imaginary fling an IRL thing. But can he convince her to take a chance and trust him with her heart?”

The story is sweet with hints of a rags to riches idea. Sariah Wilson gave the character’s enough back story to help you empathize with their decisions and be invested in their future.

The thing that makes me appreciate her story telling is her creation of a beautifully moral character that balances the intense chemistry. This line in particular was something every single person needs to hear and do, “I loved myself and the decisions I’d made about how far I would take things physically.” Nestled up quite nicely next to the heat is the idea that it’s ok to have boundaries, to curb the heat and exercise self control. I love that she does that in these novels.

I appreciated not only the balance between chemistry and control, but the balance in Maisy’s character between strength and vulnerability. Both Maisy and Ryan were beautifully flawed characters, that became even more through out the progress of the novel. I will applaud any book that can simultaneously entertain me, move me and defend the beauty of virtue. –N.C.

Four Stars, Low Language, Low Violence, Moderate Romance, Sariah Wilson

Ok confession time, I like cheesy, I totally watch Disney Channel original movies, and enjoy them. You know you do to, you’re just not about to admit it publicly. Did you see the 2010 one with Sterling Knight and Danielle Campbell called Starstruck? It was cheesy and predictable but completely adorable. A few weeks ago I came across a book with a similar title and was intrigued.

#Starstruck by Sariah Wilson is also about a girl next door’s relationship with a movie star, and is also sweet, a little predictable, and a little cheesy. However, it’s also so much more.

#Starstruck (A #Lovestruck Novel) by [Wilson, Sariah]

“With one uncharacteristically sassy tweet to her longtime celebrity crush, Zoe Miller’s life turns upside down. Ultrahot A-lister Chase Covington doesn’t just respond to Zoe’s tweet, he does the unthinkable: he messages Zoe directly. Now she must decide between walking away or meeting her crush in person.

Chase knows better than to trust anyone from the Internet, but Zoe’s saucy challenge has totally caught his interest—and her girl-next-door personality is keeping it. He’s been burned enough to know he needs to keep his heart close. But his feelings for Zoe might be a lot more than just an online flirtation. He just has to convince her.

Sariah Wilson did a beautiful job of letting the friendship and romance between a hometown girl and a A-list movie star build naturally over time. I appreciated that it wasn’t a love at first sight kind of thing. Then, the thing that just made me want to hug the author and tell her thank you a million times was how she handled the deepening of their relationship and intimacy in her book. My favorite line is: “We can experience intimacy that has nothing to do with the physical.” Thank you, thank you! For portraying that it’s possible and even preferred to be attracted to someone, to love them, and yes even desperately want someone on a physical level and still have self-control. Thank you for showing that love is about trust and commitment and forgiveness. Sexual attraction is just the icing on top. It might make the cupcake taste delicious, but it’s not really even part of the cupcake. So here’s to an author brave enough to show us that true love is worth the wait. –N.C.
